Introduction

I long intended to add a blog to my website (www.elepar.com) for many purposes: To provide piecemeal elaborations and revelations on elepar's technologies for planning and computing (especially parallel and distributed computing); to express my views and feedback of what's been happening in the field of parallel and grid computing these days; and, maybe, to just get some things off my chest. This seems like a fine place to do these things without the need to set up blogging software on my own website. At one time, I expected that perhaps the Usenet newsgroup that I helped to create with Raj Buyya, comp.distributed, would fill that role among others, but it became clear that the potential range of topics there is so great that it would be difficult to obtain the focus required for such specific topics. I also look forward to feedback on these matters and others.
